Schools audiences are an important revenue stream for shows and live events and EBC were asked to develop a curriculum-linked learning programme for Betty Blue Eyes.

Set in 1946, the smash hit musical offered an excellent insight into post war Britain for schools studying World War Two. Austerity was rife, recycling was called ‘make do and mend’ and there was a royal wedding coming up; familiar themes for many in 2011 too.

The first resource is called the Ration Pack and enabled schools to explore how five years of war exhausted the country and the social and economic impacts that resulted.

We used extensive cast interviews and original Pathe news footage in a highly engaging whiteboard friendly presentation which schools could work through before and after a visit to the show – all assisted by the incomparable Betty Blue Eyes herself!
